Mounting Techniques for Hard Disk Drives

Noise and Vibration Control. Mounting a hard disk drive on isolation mounts reduces system noise by greatly limiting the amount of vibration that is transmitted from the HDD to the equipment enclosure.

Key Problem. Typically, the HDD is the dominant noise source in a device, such as a personal computer or personal video recorder. It must be treated, to reduce overall noise levels.
